Position: Food Shelf Operations Manager

 

Position Overview: 

  • 40 hours per week
  • Work hours:  Monday 7:30am-3:30pm, Tuesday 7:30am-5:30pm; Wednesday 7:30am-3:30pm, Thursday 7:30am-5:30pm (some evenings); Friday 7:30am-11:30am.  Work evenings and occasional weekends.
  • Additional hours may be required based on the needs of ACBC
  • Review provided after 90 calendar day probation period.

 

Desired Start Date: ASAP

 

Salary & Benefits: $25.00 per hour; paid holidays; Personal Time Off – 120 hours, Retirement Simple IRA plan with 3% employer match, $225 Benefit Stipend (paid in first paycheck of the month)

Reporting to this position: Volunteers

 

General Purpose:  To meet client needs, provider leadership, and create a safe and efficient environment for operations and services

Position Summary:  Responsible for the day-to-day operations of ACBC food programs.  This includes distribution of food to clients, providing leadership in special distributions and programs, providing leadership and guidance to volunteers performing all variety of roles in the ACBC operations, and assisting with administrative needs, while ensuring services are provided equitably and with dignity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities, included but not limited to: 

  • Place all food orders and maintain inventory control of product to ensure usage, FIFO, and reporting
  • Ensure readiness and organization of shopping area and warehouse
  • Ensure readiness and organization of special events
  • Maintain clean and safe spaces in warehouse, sorting areas, and market
  • Serve as a backup to retail recue, food deliveries, and donation pickups
  • Compile daily, monthly and quarterly statistics
  • Work with area volunteers for training and best practices
  • Manage donation intakes

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities, included but not limited to (continued)

  • Conduct monthly and yearly inventories
  • Manage facilities contracts and coordinate building maintenance
  • Other general support duties as assigned

Education and Experience: 

  • 2 Year associate degree or work equivalent
  • 3 + years of warehouse experience
  • Food shelf / grocery store experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with clean MVR
  • Must pass a DOT physical

  • Ability to handle occasional high stress situations when dealing with clients or volunteers

  • Food safety knowledge and FIFO management

  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds; frequent walking, reaching, pushing, pulling, kneeling, squatting, bending, standing, and sitting.
  • The potential for prolonged standing, walking, squatting, and/or bending
  • Frequent use of a pallet jack (loads of 100+ pounds, up to 1,000 pounds.  Frequent use of carts with loads of 100+ pounds
  • Ability to enter the cold case, cooler, and freezer thereby being subjected to cold temperatures for extended periods of time
  • Work environment of varying temperatures (retail/warehouse/office environments) and frequent exposure to outdoor elements during donations drop-offs and retail pick-ups.  Frequent work in warehouse with shelves and storage equipment.  Some office and desk work
  • Use of industrial cleaners, ladders, and pallet jacks
