Position Available – ACBC Food Shelf in Anoka, MN 

About ACBC: We are a non-profit food shelf established in 1971 to provide emergency food and clothing for persons in Anoka County. Approximately 18,000 families are served each year.

Position: Volunteer & Engagement Coordinator 

 

Position Overview: 

  • 40 Hours per week
  • Hours of Employment (may vary slightly): Monday 8:00am-4:00pm, Tuesday 9:30am-5:30pm, Wednesday 8:00am-4:00pm, Thursday 9:00am-7:30pm, Fri 8:00am-1:30pm
  • Review provided after 90 calendar day probation period.

Desired Start Date: ASAP

 

Salary & Benefits: $21.00 per hour; paid holidays; Personal Time Off – 120 hours, Retirement Simple IRA plan with 3% employer match, $225 Benefit Stipend (paid in first paycheck of the month)

Reporting to this position:  Volunteers and Interns

Position Summary:   The Volunteer & Engagement Coordinator is responsible for coordinating a volunteer program that maintains operations of the food shelf, thrift store and special programming, while creating a generous and inclusive culture.

Role qualifications:  Demonstrated leadership, teamwork and management skills, well organized administrative skills, ability to train and teach volunteers, effectively communicate with participants and donors, ability to set boundaries and expectations, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.

 

Position responsibilities (essential functions) include (but not limited to): 

  • Recruit, onboard, manage, and train new volunteers and interns
  • Create new volunteer roles as needed for ACBC operations
  • Communicate daily with volunteer shifts and offer training updates as needed
  • Create and manage volunteer recognition moments and events
  • Schedule volunteers for day-to-day operations, special events, and specific programs
  • Schedule and manage volunteer groups
  • Serve as a backup in volunteer gaps
  • Provide program support to Outreach Grocery Delivery Program
  • Coordinate volunteer database and ensure accuracy of reporting, communication, and retention
  • Research and attend recruiting events and corporate volunteerism opportunities
  • Promote a safe and respectful work environment for staff, volunteers, and participants
  • Promote food shelf mission and donations
  • Serve as an ambassador for the organization, including providing information and short tours of the food shelf
  • Other general duties as assigned

 

 

Required skills and experience:   

  • 2 Year Associates Degree or the equivalent of experience and education
  • 2+ years of volunteer and/or customer service experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Time management, adaptability, and organization skills
  • Attention to detail and problem solving
  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • Must be able to support and contribute to team goals
  • Prior experience with conflict management
  • Prior experience in engaging community resources and building community relations would be preferred
  • Computer skills (Office 365, Volgistics)
  • Additional language skills would be preferred

  • Work environment:  varying temperatures (retail/warehouse/office environments), office and desk work; frequent work in warehouse/backroom/supply area with shelves and storage equipment; handling miscellaneous supplies and equipment including food and clothing donations.
