Description: Modern Montessori Charter School is seeking an Executive Director to embrace our mission and vision fully and commit to achieving them through passionate and self-driven leadership. The Executive Director plays a critical role in every aspect of the organization.

The Executive Director will lead and support the school and provide training and supervision to teachers and staff to assure implementation of classroom instructional objectives, lessons, assessments and strategies that are congruent with the needs of students at Modern Montessori Charter School. The Executive Director will provide leadership which will motivate instructional and support personnel to strive for superior performance to provide the best possible

opportunities for student growth and development, both educationally and personally. The Executive Director will lead and support the internal teams and external vendors responsible for enrollment, marketing, communication, community engagement, transportation, health services, food services, facility maintenance, technology, human resources and financials. This person invests in every facet of the school to support the success of the teachers and students.

A successful candidate will:

  • Comply with all applicable laws and policies
  • Work independently and delegate work appropriately
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills, communication skills, and leadership skills
  • Demonstrate excellent writing and verbal skills to justify recommendations, create reports, and convey messages clearly
  • React calmly and decisively in emergency situations
  • Work with conflict and in stressful situations
  • Motivate others and resolve interpersonal conflict



  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in related field, masters preferred
  • Valid Minnesota teaching and/or administrator license, or ability to obtain
  • Passion and interest in the Montessori teaching method and willingness to pursue Montessori credential within the first year of employment
  • 3- 5 years of professional experience
  • Excellent technology skills including Google Suites for Education and web-based systems


  • Montessori credential, any certification type/age level
  • Working knowledge of school related operating systems
  • Knowledge of and expertise of the Minnesota Academic Standards, the Early Childhood Indicators of Progress and Special Education services
  • Experience with program development, staff management and budget management ● Experience recruiting, hiring, training and supervising staff
  • Knowledge of and expertise in federal laws, state laws and professional trends ● Maintain an educational philosophy and climate which encourages a cooperative and participating attitude on the part of the teachers and the students
  • Experience planning and conducting professional development for staff ● Experience providing instructional leadership through curriculum and assessment selection and implementation

$72,000+ depending on experience/qualifications

1.0 FTE – Competitive Salary and Benefits. Full-time school year schedule (7 am – 3:30 pm) with flexible summer and school break schedule. Summer schedule (mid-June through mid-August) approximately 16 hours per week.
